Amit Shah Chairs High-Level Security Review in Srinagar, to Visit Pahalgam Attack Site

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today chaired a crucial high-level meeting in Srinagar to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Senior officials from the police, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies attended the closed-door session to strategize on counter-terrorism measures and ensure stability in the region.  

Sources indicate that Shah emphasized a "zero-tolerance policy" towards terrorism and directed security forces to intensify operations against militants while safeguarding civilians. The meeting also reviewed developmental projects and discussed measures to accelerate peace-building initiatives in the Valley.  

Later today, the Home Minister is expected to visit the Pahalgam attack site, where militants targeted a tourist bus, leaving several injured. His visit aims to boost morale among security personnel and reassure locals and tourists of the government’s commitment to safety.  

This marks Shah’s first visit to Kashmir since the recent uptick in violence, signaling the Centre’s proactive stance on security and development in the region. Officials confirmed that additional troop deployments and enhanced intelligence coordination are being prioritized to prevent further incidents.
