Hindu Homes Allegedly Marked Before Targeted Attacks in Murshidabad Violence

A disturbing ground investigation has uncovered claims that Hindu households in Murshidabad were selectively marked with black ink before being attacked in a recent spate of violence. Eyewitnesses allege that after the markings appeared, mobs bombed and set fire to the identified homes, leaving families traumatized and displaced.

Residents described a chilling sequence of events, with unidentified individuals quietly marking houses hours before the violence erupted. "They came in the afternoon, putting black ink on our doors. By night, the mob arrived—throwing stones, crude bombs, and burning our homes," said a shaken victim who requested anonymity for safety reasons.

Local authorities have increased police presence in the area, but affected families claim law enforcement responded too late to prevent the destruction. Opposition leaders have demanded an impartial investigation, questioning whether the attacks were premeditated. Meanwhile, the state government has vowed strict action, though tensions remain high as displaced residents take shelter in temporary relief camps.

Murshidabad, historically known for its communal harmony, now faces renewed fears of polarization. Civil society groups have called for calm, urging authorities to ensure justice for the victims and prevent further escalation.

As investigations proceed, the targeted families seek answers—and accountability—for what they describe as a deliberate act of violence against their community.
