Tanushree Dutta Fires Back at Trolls Over Mutton Meal During Shravan: "Aa Gaye Religious Log…"

Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta has never shied away from speaking her mind, and she’s done it again—this time responding to online backlash over her food choices. The actress found herself at the center of a social media storm after posting a picture of herself relishing a plate of mutton during Shravan, a holy month when many Hindus abstain from non-vegetarian food. While some fans appreciated her culinary indulgence, others accused her of disrespecting religious sentiments.

Never one to back down, Tanushree clapped back with her trademark sarcasm, writing, "Aa gaye religious log… apne aap ko bhagwan samajhne wale!" (Here come the religious folks… those who think they’re God!). She further added, "Let people eat what they want. Focus on your own plate and spirituality." Her sharp retort quickly went viral, with supporters applauding her for standing her ground. Many fans echoed her sentiment, with comments like, "Since when did personal food choices become public debate material?" and "If mutton is a crime, arrest half of India!"

This isn’t the first time Tanushree has faced online trolling for her choices. As one of the first voices in India’s #MeToo movement, she has consistently challenged societal hypocrisy and double standards. In past interviews, she has emphasized that faith should be a personal journey, not a tool to police others.

However, the debate remains divided. While some netizens defended her right to eat what she pleases, others felt that as a public figure, she should be more considerate of cultural sentiments during religious observances. "Freedom is important, but so is sensitivity," argued one user.

As the discussion continues to trend, Tanushree’s response has reignited larger conversations about individual freedom versus religious expectations in modern India. For now, the actress seems unbothered, happily indulging in her mutton while letting her clapbacks do the talking.
