Violence Erupts in Shariatpur as Homemade Bombs Explode During Group Clash

Panic gripped a quiet neighborhood in Naria Upazila today when a long-simmering dispute between two local groups erupted into violent clashes, complete with exploding homemade bombs. The shocking incident left at least five people wounded and sent terrified residents running for cover as the sounds of explosions echoed through the streets.  

According to shaken eyewitnesses, what began as a heated argument quickly spiraled out of control, with both sides hurling bricks and sharp objects before someone detonated multiple crude explosives. Local shopkeeper Mohammad Rahim described the terrifying moment: "I heard several loud bangs and suddenly people were screaming everywhere. Some were bleeding, others just trying to get their children to safety."  

Police responded quickly, firing tear gas to disperse the violent mob. Two of the injured required hospitalization, though officials say none of the wounds appear life-threatening. Authorities have already detained several suspects and are working to trace the source of the dangerous homemade devices.  

"This kind of violence puts the entire community at risk," said Naria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Gafur, vowing strict action against those responsible. "Using explosives in a crowded area shows complete disregard for human life."  

The incident has reignited concerns about growing tensions in the region, where personal and political disputes increasingly turn violent. Elderly resident Farida Begum voiced the community's frustration: "We're tired of living in fear. These clashes need to stop before someone gets killed."  

As investigators work to identify all participants, police have stepped up patrols in the area. Community leaders are calling for calm while authorities promise to bring the perpetrators to justice, hoping to prevent another dangerous escalation in this quiet riverside district.
