Sikandar Review: A tribute to Salman Khan's star power that lacks entertainment
Salman Khan’s "Sikandar" Delivers Star Power But Little Else
Salman Khan’s newest action extravaganza, Sikandar, arrives in theaters as yet another vehicle for the superstar’s undeniable charisma—but this time, the ride feels all too familiar. Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the film follows Khan as a vigilante taking on a criminal empire, a premise that should crackle with energy but instead plods along, weighed down by tired tropes and a lack of genuine thrills.
From the outset, Sikandar makes it clear that its sole purpose is to showcase Salman Khan in all his larger-than-life glory. Slow-motion walks, gravity-defying stunts, and heroic one-liners are all present and accounted for, and for die-hard fans, these moments might be enough. But beyond the surface-level spectacle, the film struggles to justify its existence. The plot is predictable, the villain forgettable, and the emotional beats fall flat, leaving little to hold onto beyond Khan’s star power.
Even the action, usually a saving grace in Salman Khan films, feels repetitive. While a few set pieces deliver the kind of over-the-top mayhem that his fans expect, many sequences lack the creativity or tension needed to stand out. The romance subplot feels tacked on, and attempts at humor land with a thud, making the film’s two-and-a-half-hour runtime feel longer than it should.
At its core, Sikandar is a tribute to Salman Khan’s enduring appeal, but it’s also a reminder that even the biggest stars need strong scripts to shine. For those who simply want to see "Bhai" do what he does best, the film might pass muster. But for anyone looking for more—cohesive storytelling, memorable characters, or genuine excitement—Sikandar ends up feeling like a missed opportunity.
